Social Networking

So I've played with facebook for quite some years now, generally using the facility to keep in touch with my friends and family who I may otherwise not speak to, well not regularly anyway. I've posted countless pictures of my children growing up over the years, shared endless moments of joy and pride at their achievements along with many more posts and updates from my own personal ventures. My Facebook friends have been inudated with information about my horses, my time spent with them and my absolute passion for them.

They've followed me on mine and my childrens Olympic Weightlifting journey seeing both of my sons competing at British level. I even managed a medal at the British Masters myself, quite an achievement given I didn't start lifting until I'd turned forty!

Little old me!

Not forgetting the countless exhibitions of enormous Carp caught by my husband on his many fishing expiditions both here in the UK and overseas, on some of which I have accompanied him. Our most recent adventure to Lake Chira on Grand Canaria to celebrate our silver wedding earlier this year. Cozy nights at the lakeside under a sky of a thousand stars, just me, him and Lake Chira. Oh and few huge carp to give him his best brace of thirties in one outing.

So there we are, my social networking journey as it was. Wow, how things have changed. Who'd of guessed that just a few years on from that I would be using Social Networking for something completely different. I've begun to realise the power of the internet and have tip toed into a whole new world. Over the past few months I've reinvented myself and once more my Facebook friends and family have joined me in my new venture. Facebook has been an incredible tool in helping me to promote both myself as a debut author and the publication of my very first books. It really is suprising what you can do with a little research and a pinch of help from your friends. I am very proud to announce that not only do I have my own Author Page but I have also created a new group, Equine Romance Novels. Now I know this may seem quite trivial to some of you out there reading this blog, but hey as you've just seen this is a whole new world to me! Afterall, we all need to start somewhere. Now also an active Tweeter, my twitter account is fast approaching a thousand followers after just a few short weeks since I signed up. I've quickly begun to realise that there truly is a whole new world out there. Connecting with a widely different demographic audience has opened my eyes to more information than ever before, giving me an even bigger insight to the world of writing, reading, advertising and promotion. I still feel somewhat like a very small fish swimming amongst sharks but I'm sure with practice and determination I will learn to swim confidently alongside them, maybe even grow and develop my ability. I mean not all sharks eat little fish, do they?
